and Merab Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili defeated O’Malley for the UFC Bantamweight Championship at UFC 306 in dominating fashion, and will look to do so once again.

UFC 316 will be held in Newark, New Jersey, with Dvalishvili vs O’Malley 2 announced as the main event. O’Malley has not fought since his UFC 306 loss in September 2024, but Merab has already successfully defended his title, which he did so at UFC 311 against Umar Nurmagomedov.

Their first fight saw Merab take a clear victory, as O’Malley possessed a huge and very visible grappling disadvantage. Many were expecting Petr Yan to get the next shot at the UFC Bantamweight Champion, but it makes sense as to why the UFC went in this direction given Sean’s massive starpower.
