Decision machine Movsar Evloev is willing to change up his game if it means getting a shot at UFC Champ Alexander Volkanovski.

The undefeated Movsar Evloev is currently ranked #4 in the UFC Featherweight division, calling himself the real #1 contender for champion Alexander Volkanovski after nine-straight victories in the Octagon.

One of the only things standing in the way of a potential title fight is a highlight finish with all of Evloev’s UFC fights going the distance.

Evloev’s certainly made a case for a title opportunity with wins over former champ Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen and the latest title challenger Diego Lopes, scoffing at Yair Rodriguez’s calls for a rematch with Volkanovski after losing to him once already.

Movsar Evloev says he’ll go striking-only if UFC gives him title shot

Open to fighting another contender for a crack at Volkanovski, Evloev surprisingly says he’d stand and trade with Volkanovski in the striking department where the champion is known to pick apart his opponents like BMF Champion Max Holloway, who he completely shut out across five rounds.

“I can promise them that I’m not gonna take down [Volkanovski] if they give me a title shot,” Evloev said on the Overdogs Podcast.

“I’m not gonna go there first.

“If they try take me down, okay, I’ll accept this.

“But I’ll just go straight striking. So, let’s see…”

For his last fight against Sterling, Evloev says he was almost 100% focused on striking because of the ‘decision’ narrative that surrounds him.

However, Evloev wasn’t able to showcase much of his striking with Sterling turning their fight into somewhat of a grappling match with Evloev getting his hand raised by unanimous decision.

Movsar Evloev won’t let Alexander Volkanovski run from him

Beating Volkanovski is no easy feat with ‘Alexander The Great’ 18-1 at 145lbs. Volkanovski’s a master of footwork and distance management, keeping his opponents at bay with his sharp jab.

So, how exactly Evloev get past the expert technician and all the striking skills he possesses?

“I’ll just push him to the wall,” Evloev revealed his path to victory.

“So, [I] don’t let him run from me, don’t let him move.

“Then, he has to [start] exchanging with me. He will tire or I’ll break him.

“Because I know that I have bigger power, better wrestling, and I can control this guy five rounds or finish on the ground.”

Alexander Volkanovski was taken down multiple times in his fight against heavy-handed wrestler Chad Mendes but the Australian wore on his gas tank, stopping Mendes in similar fashion to Conor McGregor.

Which game-plan will Movsar Evloev end up using? Only time will tell as he continues to wait for a title fight or a title eliminator.
