Colby Covington once again attempted to steal the limelight on Saturday night at UFC 314 in Miami.
Paddy Pimblett picked up the biggest win of his career thus far this past Saturday at UFC 314, finishing Michael Chandler in the third round of their five-round co-main event.
Following his extremely impressive performance, Pimblett called out ‘cheeky’ Conor McGregor after the Irishman declared his interest in fighting the winner a few days prior to the event.
However, it was an altercation with Colby Covington backstage that ultimately stole the headlines, as the controversial welterweight ran up on ‘The Baddy’ during his interviews with the media.

Covington explains his side of Pimblett UFC 314 run-in
A few hours after the event, Pimblett explained his side of the altercation, claiming that ‘Mr irrelevant’, Colby Covington, was just attempting to steal the limelight because the cameras were on.
Now, ‘Chaos’ Covington has shared his side of the story, stating that ‘The Baddy’ has mentioned him several times and that he was confronting him because of that.
“He’s been loving to run my name through his mouth in the media, he talks about me every chance he gets, so I just said, ‘What’s up, bro, do you want to talk about me to my face right now? Say something now,’” Covington began to explain to Full Send MMA.
“He had a mic in Vegas when I fought for the title and he didn’t say s— he sat there like a good little b—- and didn’t say s—. He didn’t say his ‘little sausage’ lines, that Ellen Degeneres looking nerd had nothing to say.
“I’m just sick of him running my name through his mouth, I’m gonna confront you and we’re gonna talk about it. Let’s talk about facts, though, the facts are, that the combined losing streak of his last three opponents is a 13-fight losing streak,” Covington continued.
The former welterweight title challenger went on to claim that Pimblett will never go on to fight for a title, slamming his credentials up until this point.
“He lost to a f—— drug addict. Everybody knows he really lost to that drug addict (Jared) Gordon that he fought… He keeps putting my name in his mouth, he’s gonna end up with my foot in his a–.”
Pimblett could now be in title contention
Despite ‘Chaos’ Covington suggesting that the Brit will never go on to fight for the 155lb title, UFC boss Dana White stated after the event that Pimblett is now, in fact, in the title conversation.
Islam Makhachev currently reigns over the lightweight division and is seemingly crying out for new contenders.
Pimblett’s title aspirations could’ve been given a huge boost, not only because the champion is looking for new contenders but because Makhachev previously stated he would fight Pimblett if he gets into the top 10 of the rankings.
