Conor McGregor will be keeping a close eye on the UFC 314 co-main event this Saturday between Michael Chandler and Paddy Pimblett.

This coming Saturday, the UFC returns to Miami for a stacked UFC 314 fight card, with a main event featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes.

However, it is the five-round co-main event between Michael Chandler and Paddy Pimblett which has the majority of the fans’ interest.

Ever since his emphatic UFC debut in 2021, ‘The Baddy’ has been highlighted as a potential future star in the promotion, especially if he can pull off another unique finish, and he now has the attention of arguably the biggest star in combat sports.

Conor McGregor eyeing up winner of Pimblett vs Chandler for shock UFC return

Conor McGregor has been inactive from the Octagon since 2021, when he brutally broke his leg during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

Since then, the former UFC double champion has been active in promoting BKFC events as he is now the co-owner of the bare-knuckle boxing promotion.

More recently, McGregor hinted at retirement from the UFC, stating that he is happy with everything he has accomplished in the sport and will now turn his attention to becoming President of Ireland.

Having said that, ahead of the blockbuster UFC 314 co-main event, McGregor has dropped a huge hint that he is eyeing the winner of Chandler vs Pimblett for a shock return to the UFC.

“I am interested in the Chandler/Pimblett fight this weekend,” McGregor stated in a post on his Instagram.

‘The Notorious’ was, of course, scheduled to return to the Octagon last year to take on Chandler at UFC 303, but McGregor withdrew from the fight weeks out due to a broken toe.

The Irishman has since teased at returning multiple times, and ‘Iron’ Chandler remained hopeful that he would be the opponent whenever the 36-year-old did decide to make his anticipated comeback.

If the stakes weren’t already high enough in the UFC 314 co-main event, McGregor has undoubtedly raised them, as even Pimblett has historically talked about wanting to fight McGregor.

Conor McGregor could return to action from October

Despite that, the former double champions’ return could still face a potential delay, as according to the UFC Anti-Doping database, McGregor still hasn’t registered a test session in 2025.

Fighters must be in the testing pool for at least six months before they can return to action, meaning McGregor’s comeback wouldn’t be able to take place until at least October.

However, considering he recently teased at never fighting under the UFC banner again, his recent comments will surely reinstall some hope back into the fanbase.
