The controversial star was looking to get his career back on track with a big start to 2025 lined up.
Dillon Danis was aiming to fight both KSI and Tony Ferguson in what would have been a quick turnaround for him following years of criticism for not backing up his words.
If he had managed to get his hand raised in either contest, it would’ve boosted his stock significantly following a disappointing performance against Logan Paul in 2023.
KSI unfortunately withdrew from his Misfits Boxing clash with Danis that was scheduled for March 29 due to illness having recently made retirement claims.
He then continued to be on the receiving end of unfortunate news when Danis’ GFL debut against Ferguson was also written off after the promotion cancelled its first two events on May 24 and 25.
Misfits Boxing’s Mams Taylor tells Dillon Danis that he will have a fight booked soon
Dillon Danis has not helped himself in recent years when it comes to the criticism that he receives but both of the fights that he had booked were huge opportunities for him to course correct.
A win over KSI would’ve helped to undo his loss to Logan Paul by setting him up for big things in the boxing world whilst an MMA return against a legend like Tony Ferguson was clearly the option that Danis was personally the most excited about.
Both matchups has now fallen by the wayside with all elements being totally out of his control even with Misfits seemingly attempting to get him a replacement opponent on short notice.
Danis vented his feelings in a social media post where he stated that he’s been working hard to try and change his perception but the chance was taken out of his hands.
“Being real, I’m frustrated as hell. I wanted to stay as active as possible for myself and for everyone who supports me in 2025. First KSI canceled on me, then said he wouldn’t be fit to reschedule. We couldn’t lock in a replacement. I said yes to everyone. And now with the Tony Ferguson fight being moved, I get the criticism.
“I know what people say about me not fighting. I don’t want that to be the narrative, and I’ve been doing everything I can to change it. I just want to back up everything I’ve been saying and prove I’m the best in the world. Sorry, everyone.”
In a response to Danis’ post, Misfits Boxing promoter Mams Taylor offered him some consolation by suggesting that he will have something booked in the near future.
“You’ve sure had some bad luck. You’re fighting soon Danis.”
Who could Dillon Danis fight next?
With the future of the Global Fight League now up in the air, it seems unlikely that a promotion will be able to pay both Dillon Danis and a suitable opponent the money they need to book a matchup unless the PFL decide to get involved.
Misfits have already extended the olive branch and whilst boxing doesn’t play to the former grappling specialists skillset, it might be his best chance to stay active.
Big names like Darren Till and Mike Perry have been linked with Danis in recent times and with KSI and the Paul brothers being off the table, they might be his best options even if they’re tough fights for him.
Danis hasn’t exactly done much to warrant sympathy from the fans but there’s no denying that his career has been significantly impacted by unfortunate circumstances in recent weeks.
