The UFC 314 main card saw blockbuster performances from a rising star in the featherweight division, and a veteran who has been a longtime contender at the top.
Coming into the stacked UFC 314 event, the majority of fans were keeping a close eye on Jean Silva vs Bryce Mitchell, considering Silva’s epic rise to stardom and the bizarre lead up to their clash.
Ahead of their featherweight fight, Silva claimed that he would retire Mitchell, stating that ‘Thugnasty’ already has a lot of brain damage.
The impressive Fighting Nerd went on to live up to his words when he left Mitchell lay unconscious on the floor after scoring the submission win in round two.

Joe Rogan suggests ‘perfect fight’ between Silva and Yair Rodriguez
Just one fight after the Brazilian continued his soaring streak, longtime featherweight contender, Yair Rodriguez welcomed Patricio Pitbull to the Octagon.
Pitbull’s UFC signing came after years of calls from fans, however, some thought that maybe it has came too late in his career, now at 37 years old.
The Brazilian veteran went on to somewhat freeze under the bright lights of the UFC, as the former title challenger, Rodriguez, sailed to a unanimous decision win.
Following impressive performances from both ‘Lord’ Silva and ‘El Pantera’, commentator Joe Rogan made a suggestion for their next fights.
“Yair Rodriguez vs Jean Silva, anyone?” Rogan immediately reacted.
“Oh my god, I hadn’t even thought about that, that’s actually perfect,” Daniel Cormier responded.
“How could you not think about that? That’s a perfect fight. I mean, what a tremendous performance by Rodriguez. Just dominant, completely dominant.
“Yair vs Jean Silva would be absolute chaos,” Rogan continued.
Yair Rodriguez claims he was promised UFC title shot
Although Rogan is hopeful that a blockbuster fight between Rodriguez and Silva can be put together next, the Mexican claimed that he has been promised a title shot by UFC matchmaker, Hunter Campbell.
Since fighting Alexander Volkanovski for the title back in 2023, Rodriguez went on to lose to Brian Ortega before bouncing back with a win this Saturday.
With Volkanovski having reclaimed the title with a win over Diego Lopes, it is unlikely that the Mexican fights for the title next, despite his desire to challenge for it at UFC 320 in Guadalajara.
