UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping spoke with the man who tied one of his illustrious records in an incredible moment at UFC Vegas 105.
UFC middleweight Brad Tavares and Hall of Famer Michael Bisping once shared spots on the divisional roster. While they never competed against one another in their careers, Tavares and Bisping are now mentioned in the same breath after UFC Vegas 105.
Tavares and grappling ace Gerald Meerschaert had a back-and-forth battle on the main card at UFC Vegas 105 on Saturday. The fight had a razor-close margin from start to finish as the two middleweight veterans showcased a physical chess match in the Octagon.
After three rounds, Tavares etched out a unanimous decision win to snap a two-fight losing skid and get back on track. But Tavares earned much more than an ordinary victory at UFC Vegas 105.

As is traditional following most UFC victories, Tavares shared a moment with the UFC’s post-fight interviewer on the live broadcast. Michael Bisping was the man in the role at UFC Vegas 105, and he began the interview by alerting Tavares of the deeper meaning of what he had just accomplished.
Bisping told Tavares that he had tied the UFC Hall of Famer’s all-time UFC middleweight wins record with his performance against Meerschaert. As of this writing, Bisping and Tavares sit atop the all-time middleweight wins leaderboard with 16 victories apiece.

Lerone Murphy called out a former title challenger after UFC Vegas 105 headliner
Bisping retired after a knockout loss to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Shanghai in November 2017. After winning and defending the middleweight championship, Bisping’s title reign ended abruptly, courtesy of fellow legend Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217.
Tavares lost back-to-back fights to Jun-Yong Park and Gregory Rodrigues before the UFC Vegas 105 victory against Meerschaert. Before the event, Tavares’s most recent victory came against former titleholder Chris Weidman at UFC 292.
The UFC Vegas 105 main event featured a decisive win for featherweight Lerone Murphy over knockout artist Josh Emmett. After defeating Emmett by unanimous decision, Murphy called out former title challenger Brian Ortega for a potential No. 1 contender bout.
Murphy nearly got into it with a furious spectator at the UFC Apex after his victory. Luckily, security personnel intervened and cooler heads prevailed.
As for Bisping, his broadcast appearance at UFC Vegas 105 didn’t come without controversy. On social media, Bisping was blasted with criticism from fight fans for alleged biased commentary.
