Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall is one of the most anticipated matchups in UFC history, and it’s not only dividing the fanbase, but fighters are also torn on who they think will win.
Ever since Tom Aspinall beat Sergei Pavlovich to become the UFC interim heavyweight champion, fans have called for the title unification fight against Jon Jones.
Although it seemed as though the fight wouldn’t happen following Jones’ title defense against Stipe Miocic, the likelihood of the fight has increased over the past few months, after Dana White gave a promising update.
With Jones now involved in a different combat sports venture, it is just a waiting game to find out whether the legend will fight once more and when.

Paddy Pimblett backing Jon Jones to beat Tom Aspinall
With it being one of the most anticipated fights of the year, the fanbase is almost completely split on who they think will win the potential clash.
Despite ‘Bones’ now being 37 years old, he is still widely regarded as the greatest fighter of all time because of his continued dominance in the sport.
However, because of Aspinall’s youth and unique style for a heavyweight, many are pitting him to dethrone Jones.
One fighter, though, who shockingly isn’t backing his countryman, is Paddy Pimblett. Even though Aspinall and Pimblett both represent the UK, ‘The Baddy’ is backing ‘Bones’ to continue his legendary run in the sport.
“I’ll be honest, Tom’s a friend, I love Tom, he’s one of the coolest dudes in MMA and even though Jones is getting on (in his career), I just can’t pick against Jon Jones,” Pimblett said on The Full Send Podcast.
“I’ve been watching Jon Jones since 2010, I can remember watching when he got disqualified against Matt Hamill, live. He’s got proper longevity, and the one thing I do think Jon Jones has got the best in the world is fight IQ. He gameplans to beat people, and he doesn’t fight the same way every fight.
“As much as I love Tom and I want Tom to win, I couldn’t pick against Jon Jones, it’s just something I couldn’t do,” he continued.
When could Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall happen?
Aspinall was originally targeting International Fight Week and UFC 317 at the end of June for his unification fight against Jones, however, it seems as though that could now be too soon.
Especially because Jones claimed he needs six months to prepare for the fight, meaning that it may only be able to happen towards the end of 2025.
