President Donald Trump appears to have made up with TV star Cheryl Hines after what seemed like a brutal snub at a UFC event last night.
President Trump was cageside at UFC 314, and shook hands with a host of celebrities and officials on his way into the arena. However, after meeting Robert F Kennedy Jr, he appeared to avoid shaking hands with his wife; Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Cheryl Hines.
However, new footage from the event shows that the pair seemed to make up fairly quickly and that he did, in fact, shake her hand later. He also got a chance to embrace UFC commentator Joe Rogan, whose podcast is credited with helping him win the election.
Donald Trump snub got fans talking at UFC 314
It is customary when President Donald Trump appears at UFC events that he is given a ring walk akin to a fighter, before taking his seat at cageside next to Dana White. Last night was no different, and despite a tumultuous few weeks he received a rapturous welcome from the Miami crowd.
During his walk, the President will attempt to shake as many hands as possible first with fans before greeting the VIPs in what White refers to as ‘Billionaires Row’. These major names included Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and others last night.
However, fans all noticed that he appeared uninterested in shaking hands with Cheryl Hines, who is the long-time wife of Robert F Kennedy Jr. He quickly made a beeline for Joe Rogan, whom he hugged before greeting his commentary colleagues Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier.
Donald Trump appears not to have snubbed Cheryl Hines after all
However, all is not as it seems. In a moment that was not broadcast as widely, Donald Trump went back to speak with Kennedy, and could be seen shaking hands with Hines. That snippet was captured by X user SportsTVGuy who appears to have caught the less viral moment.
There is another video posted by political commentator Benny Johnson that shows Trump after one fight turning around to speak to Hines. She then leaves her seat to go and say something to him, and they appear quite friendly.
Neither party has spoken about the incident, but a source told People Magazine: “This was simply an unintentional oversight, which can happen in a large crowd in a public arena. There is no way this was intentional.”
