Alexander Volkanovski is aiming to win the vacant UFC Featherweight Championship in what promises to be an exciting clash with Diego Lopes on April 12 in Miami, Florida at UFC 314.

With Ilia Topuria vacating his Featherweight title, the belt will be on the line in UFC 314’s main event fight. Volkanovski lost to Topuria in his last bout, his second devastating knockout loss in a row, which will only encourage the supremely confident Lopes leading into the fight. The Brazilian has won his last five fights and looks like a man hell-bent on becoming the next UFC Featherweight champion.

Elsewhere, the co-main event sees Paddy Pimblett eyeing a title shot, as Pimblett has predicted victory over his opponent, Michael Chandler. The Liverpool fighter hasn’t lost in the octagon since 2018 and is on a run of eight wins in a row as he climbs the Lightweight division ranks. He faces a tough striker in “Iron Mike”, and Chandler plans to call out Conor McGregor following the fight to rebook their canceled UFC 303 bout.

Meanwhile, the card also includes an exciting fight between Nikita Krylov and Dominick Reyes. These men are two of the most violent fighters in the Light Heavyweight division and should provide some quality entertainment for UFC fans in Miami.

Alexander Volkanovski is a doubt after his year-long break from the UFC

While he is considered one of the top fighters in the UFC, Volkanovski is not certain to pick up the win at UFC 314.

The Australian hasn’t fought in over a year after suffering back-to-back losses to Islam Makhachev and Topuria where he failed to win their UFC world championships.

This will have knocked his confidence and put doubt in everyone’s mind about his chances of getting back to winning ways.

Volkanovski admitted he had doubts about this fight but an early training camp and hard work to get back into fighting shape is all he can do to try and get another win streak going.

However, Lopes will not be an easy opponent to get past in the octagon and the Brazilian wants to increase his own winning streak to six at UFC 314.
