Nora Cornolle didn’t win over too many fans with her post-fight celebration at UFC 314.
The French fighter took part of the first fight of the night at UFC 314 in Miami, headlined by Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes. Cornolle would battle Texas’ Hailey Cowan in a women’s bantamweight bout, one Cornolle missed weight for.
On Friday, Cornolle weighed in 138lbs, 2lbs over the bantamweight limit. This was Cornolle’s second weight miss in four UFC fights.
Receiving a percentage of her opponent’s purse, Cowan ended up accepting the fight.

Nora Cornolle taps out Hailey Cowan with choke
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t bode so well for the Texan as Cornolle took control of her on the ground in two rounds.
In the opening round, Cornolle attempted an armbar that she nearly tapped out Cowan with. But, Cowan somehow escaped to see round 2.
Cowan attempted a trip in the second round with Cornolle landing on top. Cornolle grabbed ahold of Cowan’s back, securing the rear-naked choke. On her second try, Cornolle eventually forced the tap out of Cowan.
When Cornolle let go, Cowan’s neck was around where she was choked with Cornolle quick to spring up to her feet.
Nora Cornolle received backlash for pushing opponent to canvas
With Cowan on top of her, Cornolle yelled before pushing her opponent of her way so she could get up and scream some more.
“Cornolle’s got a bit of a mean streak,” UFC commentator Jon Anik said of Cornolle’s celebration.
“Did you see the way she sort of disposed of Hailey Cowan after choking her out?” Anik continued.
“The question that beckons for Cornolle moving forward is the [weight] scale…”
Cornolle received backlash for pushing Cowan with her face meeting the canvas. The referee went up to Cowan immediately to check on her.
“Kinda b***** move after the tap for someone who didn’t make weight,” one fan wrote on X.
Cornolle cited she had health issues in her post-fight interview that prevented her from making the 136lb limit.
“Then why is she fighting?” the same fan wrote of said health issues.
“Damn. Anik was right,” another fan wrote on X.
“The way Cornolle threw her off after the tap was tough. Make weight.”
“Throwing the opponent off like that is poor sportsmanship,” another fan wrote on X.
Despite the reception from the fans, it seems all things are well between Nora Cornolle and Hailey Cowan, sharing a moment of respect before Cornolle’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.
Cornolle improved to 3-1 in the UFC with the submission win in Miami.
