Sedriques Dumas wasn’t ready to yield at UFC 314.
The UFC middleweight fought on the undercard of UFC 314 in Miami, headlined by a featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes.
Florida’s Dumas was matched up against 28-fight veteran Michał Oleksiejczuk, a new addition to the star-studded ‘Fighting Nerds’ team.
Fighting from the Kaseya Center in Miami on Saturday, it took Oleksiejczuk only a matter of minutes to crack his opponent’s chin. The Polishman bounced from a three-fight losing skid with a first-round TKO of Dumas – one Dumas isn’t happy about.

Sedriques Dumas protested first-round TKO stoppage
In two and half minutes of the fight, Dumas was grounded, looking for a way to survive after Oleksiejczuk knocked him down with his forearm.
Oleksiejczuk landed elbow after elbow, left hand after left hand on Dumas, chasing for the finish. After 19 seconds of punishment, referee Marc Goddard had seen enough and decided to stop the contest.
The back of his head to the mat, Dumas complained right away to the referee. Goddard uttered something to Dumas, which sounded like he warned the fighter “two times”.
Dumas got up to his knees, punching the mat after Goddard turned his back on him.
Fans have mixed opinions on referee’s stoppage
Dumas gestured as if he was blocking correctly, continuing to protest what he believed to be a premature stoppage despite much ground and pound.
“Why is Dumas throwing a fit and wasn’t defending himself or moving at all,” one fan wrote on X.
“Early Stoppage? Nope,” another fan wrote on X. “Laying there doing NOTHING then protesting the stoppage? don’t sit there and get mad when your not showing you’re conscious.”
“Horrible stoppage,” one fan disagreed on X. “Plus the knockdown only landed on the forearm.”
“He wasn’t really getting hit. Therefore his head was not getting smashed in.”
As Bruce Buffer read the TKO result for Michał Oleksiejczuk, Sedriques Dumas kept his shaking no, in disbelief of the fight being stopped.
Oleksiejczuk celebrated with The Fighting Nerds star and teammate Caio Borralho after the fight. Borralho and Oleksiejczuk are actually former opponents with Borralho taking the Polishman under his wing after beating him in 2023.
