One of the four performance of the night bonus winners kept his UFC career alive with a ruthless knockout win.

Ahead of UFC Vegas 105 where the likes of Lerone Murphy were in action, a staggering amount of undefeated fighters had lost their perfect records.

The Octagon’s return to the Apex on April 5 didn’t deliver many memorable highlights with multiple performances leading to harsh criticisms.

Along with Murphy and Torrez Finney, another undefeated fighter in Denver’s Luis Gurule was in action as he looked to record his first win inside the Octagon.

It didn’t end up being the fairy tale debut that the 31-year-old would’ve hoped for after Gurule was stopped in devastating fashion by a veteran of the flyweight division.

Ode Osbourne trolls fight fans for ruining their parlays with underdog win

Ode Osbourne came into April 5 in desperate need of a win in order to keep his spot on the UFC roster.

With an overall record in the flyweight division of 4-6, the 33-year-old had suffered losses in his last three outings having last gotten his hand raised against Charles Johnson in February of 2023.

The matchup was seemingly setup for Luis Gurule to take the place of his opponent by ending Osbourne’s run in the UFC by kickstarting his own.

This narrative was reflected in the odds but ‘The Jamaican Sensation’ was reading from a different script despite having a difficult opening round.

Gurule racked up 2:17 of control time in the first after successfully securing his one and only takedown of the fight.

In the second, Osbourne started to defend the takedowns and land with his quick hands before detonating a huge left hand that required several follow-up shots to get the stoppage.

After earning the second performance bonus of his UFC career, the flyweight sent a message to all the fans on social media who had predicted that his losing streak would continue on April 5.

Ode Osbourne says there wasn’t any extra pressure to perform at UFC Vegas 105

Ode Osbourne stated in his post-fight press conference that he didn’t feel any extra pressure heading into UFC Vegas 105 despite the fact that his UFC career may have been on the line.

He believes that he’s constantly getting better so the only focus was on proving that by fighting smarter and being more calculated.

“Honestly, no. Not at all because I know how good I am and as long as I’m confident in my abilities, I know where I’m at. I just had to force myself to stay calm. That is the biggest thing because man, once I get going and start using my explosiveness, I just unleash and sometimes I gas myself out.”

Regardless of whether he felt the pressure or not, Osbourne may have just bought himself some more time to prove what he’s saying.
