One of the top featherweight contenders wasn’t prepared for the wrecking machine that was coming right for him.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 105, Josh Emmett faces Lerone Murphy as the American looks to earn his 11th win inside the Octagon.

The undefeated Murphy has won seven-in-a-row at featherweight but ‘The Miracle’ has never faced an opponent with the kind of destructive power that his next opponent brings to the table.

Since signing with the UFC in 2016, Emmett has produced some of the most devastating knockouts that we have ever seen.

Retirement isn’t even a consideration for the 40-year-old Emmett as he looks to add another highlight to his already impressive reel on April 5.

Josh Emmett announced himself as a major player at 145-pounds by sleeping Ricardo Lamas

Josh Emmett debuted in the UFC in 2016 as a lightweight before dropping down to featherweight, going 3-1 in his first four outings that were all decided by the judges.

The Team Alpha Male fighter had accumulated a record of 8-0 with three wins by knockout before arriving in the Octagon but fight fans hadn’t seen anything yet.

After earning his first win at 145-pounds, Emmett received a big opportunity in December of 2017 where the UFC received its first taste of the frightening power that the American possesses.

Ricardo Lamas had produced back-to-back wins over Charles Oliveira and Jason Knight to claim the #3-ranking following a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 199.

Emmett missed weight ahead of the fight meaning that he needed to make a statement to put this behind him and he did just that with the best performance of his career at the time.

Both men had success on the feet in the opening round but with 30 seconds left on the clock, Lamas became the first UFC fighter to find out about the dangers of trading with Emmett.

The unranked contender unleashed a devastating left hook that caught his opponent clean after coming behind a big right hand.

One shot was all it took to close the show and ever since, the featherweight division has taken notice of one of the most dangerous one-punch strikers in UFC history.

Emmett would go on to be stopped for the first time in his career in a loss to Jeremy Stephens before reminding everyone what he’s capable of with a signature knockout over Michael Johnson.

Lerone Murphy will be walking in a minefield on April 5

Lerone Murphy has also proven himself to be a dangerous striker in the UFC’s featherweight division but he doesn’t have the same one-shot power that Josh Emmett does.

Whilst the Brit may be the more diverse and accurate striker, he will be well aware that his opponent can end the fight in the blink of an eye.

Murphy has overcome some difficult moments inside the Octagon but the danger with Emmett is that when he lands, you don’t even get the chance to recover.

‘The Miracle’ will need to be sharp at all times if he’s going to avoid becoming another trademark finish on his opponent’s record.
