Road House 2 is officially in production with some interesting details coming out about the movie.

The 2024 remake of the 1989 classic starred Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, an ex-UFC fighter turned bodyguard who helped fend off a local crime boss in an action-packed movie.

In his role as a former UFC fighter, Gyllenhaal was joined by Conor McGregor in the film. McGregor played the antagonist Knox in Road House, a seemingly indestructible fighter who has numerous run-ins with Gyllenhaal’s character.

Road House did well on streaming and was well-received by fans, prompting Amazon to commission a sequel. Gyllenhaal will return as Dalton for the follow-up, but without Doug Liman returning to direct the picture.

Instead, Englishman Guy Ritchie is reportedly in talks to direct the film, following his work with Amazon for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

With the news being reported, questions are being asked about McGregor’s involvement in the Road House sequel.

Will Conor McGregor be in Road House 2?

As such an entertaining part of the first Road House, there is ample interest for McGregor to return for the sequel.

McGregor was well-received in Road House and has admitted he would be open to playing the role of Knox again in the sequel, but has yet to be announced in a starring role in the movie.

He told Variety that he is hopeful to appear in the sequel, given that his character didn’t die in the original film.

McGregor said: “I didn’t die, so I think that there’s hope for me.

“I loved working with Doug Liman and then obviously to work with Jake Gyllenhaal, someone I grew up just admiring and rehearsing Donnie Darko in my room as an 11-year-old and wanting to be him.”

McGregor stole the show as Knox and would be a welcome return to the franchise in Road House 2. However, he has yet to be announced for the sequel, with very little information being revealed about it.

How much did Conor McGregor earn in Road House?

McGregor reportedly earned $5.5 million for appearing in Road House, although some claims put it up as high as $10 million.

The Irishman himself proclaimed in a now-deleted Tweet. that it was more than The Rock earned for his debut movie, The Mummy Returns, in 2001, making him the highest-paid first-time actor of all time.

McGregor noted: “I’m the highest-paid first-time actor of all time. Add that to the rest of my accolades.”

McGregor previously said he didn’t want to continue acting

While he was a success in Road House, McGregor told The Independent in March 2024 that he wasn’t sure about his future in acting.

He noted that the schedule was tough and he doesn’t know if he’d go back to Hollywood.

McGregor said: “It was hard work, and I’m used to hard work, but the schedule was intense,” he said. “I’m not sure if I will go through it again, but it’s in the bank, it’s in the history books. Money can come and go, but this film will be there forever.”

He seems to have gone back on the idea of quitting with his comments about Road House 2.
