Zabit Magomedsharipov reportedly put on a ‘masterclass’ in a Dubai gym around the same time that reports of a UFC comeback were circulating online.

The once number three-ranked featherweight in the world was forced into retirement after undergoing surgery on undisclosed health issues that ended up costing him his career. However, reports began to spread last night that he may be heading back to the UFC octagon in a surprise return.

Since then, he has shared a number of clips showing his training in Dubai as he pushes towards making one more appearance. And judging by what his teammates are saying, he looked as fresh as ever through boxing and grappling sessions.

Zabit Magomedsharipov’s Dubai ‘masterclass’ emerges after comeback rumors

Over the last day, reports have begun to swirl about a potential return to action for former featherweight contender Zabit Magomedsharipov. The Russian had never been beaten in the UFC when he retired with an 18-1 record in 2022 after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

His final fight took place in 2019 against Calvin Kattar in Moscow, as he scored a performance bonus for Fight of the Night in a rare three-round main event. He has since toyed with studying to become a doctor and training his brother.

However, fans were excited last night as teammate Muskhab Kudiev took to Instagram to share a video of him with the caption: “He will be back soon. His cam back [comeback], as always, in perfect form.”

And that has been compounded by further videos showing him boxing and grappling at a seminar in Dubai’s Buka Gym. One attendee on Instagram stories declared it a ‘masterclass’, while others had similarly positive things to say of his ability even still.

Zabit Magomedsharipov retired seemingly at his prime

Between his final fight and when he hung up the gloves, all-time greats such as Khabib Nurmagomedov were brading Zabit as the “the best featherweight in the world.” He seemed poised for a shot at the tite, but shocked fans when he retired.

A lengthy post on Instagram read: I have recovered now, but I don’t feel the way I used to ⠀
Thank you to everyone who has supported me for such a long time. I didn’t have time to become a champion, but I think, even without this, I hope I was able to please/entertain you))

“I cease to be an active athlete, but I do not leave the sport. I have something and with whom to share my knowledge. So don’t say goodbye, friends.”
